We set these lab-created stones in gold-plated metalwork, keeping the craft and the look while naming the material honestly, as accessible luxury.

Traditional Polki set uncut, unfaceted diamonds in gold foil, prized for a soft brilliance rather than cut sparkle; the setting itself became a Bengali speciality, the karigars of Kolkata among its finest hands. Mortantra keeps that setting craft intact and chooses moissanite - lab-created and responsibly made - to carry the same light. We say so plainly: the tradition lives in the setting, and the brilliance is real.

THE PIECE
A gold-plated Quartz Polki necklace set in which large uncut-diamond-look stones are set using a Kundan technique with silver foiling, lending them the lustre associated with traditional Polki work. Smaller coloured Kundan accent stones - dark green in one colourway, dark pink in the other - punctuate the layout and give each variant its distinctive character. The necklace falls at princess length with a layered visual weight, and the matching earrings fasten with push-back fittings. The necklace closes with a hook fastening.
