We set these lab-created stones in gold-plated metalwork, keeping the craft and the look while naming the material honestly, as accessible luxury.

Traditional Polki set uncut, unfaceted diamonds in gold foil, prized for a soft brilliance rather than cut sparkle; the setting itself became a Bengali speciality, the karigars of Kolkata among its finest hands. Mortantra keeps that setting craft intact and chooses moissanite - lab-created and responsibly made - to carry the same light. We say so plainly: the tradition lives in the setting, and the brilliance is real.

THE PIECE
A gold-plated bangle pair set in the Navratna tradition, featuring nine coloured Quartz Polki stones arranged in a Navratna formation. Each stone is foil-backed in the Kundan manner to lend depth and lustre to the uncut-look gems. The screw closure allows the bangle to be worn and removed without bending the form. The multicolour Navratna palette - drawing from the nine-gem tradition - gives the piece a ceremonial, festive character.
